I am a general ENT surgeon with particular expertise in otology - the management of problems relating to the ear, hearing and balance. I qualified in medicine from the University of Cambridge in 1992 and completed my basic postgraduate surgical training in Oxford. Whilst in Oxford I was appointed to my first ENT post and subsequently completed specialist ENT training in the south west of England. I then undertook advanced ear surgery training in Melbourne, Australia as part of a TWJ Fellowship. I then spent 2 years as a consultant ENT surgeon in Melbourne before taking up an NHS consultant post at the Royal United Hospital in Bath in 2009. I left my NHS post in 2022 to concentrate on private practice.
Through the course of my career I have enjoyed teaching the art and science of surgery. I completed a master’s degree in medical education and have been privileged to be the Program Director for ENT in the Severn region - earning the award of 'Trainer of the Year’. I have also been faculty for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and taught on courses all over the UK, China and the Middle East.
I aim to provide a sympathetic, expert opinion to patients that come and see me. I hope to build a partnership with patients and achieve excellent outcomes through shared decision making.
